The School for Performing Arts and Creative Education is the new creative hub for the entire Geelong Grammar community.
The impressive $20 million project has been designed by Peter Elliot Architects and features striking perforated stepped facades covering all elevations. The new development is divided into three major sections; the Foyer, the Studio and the Forum for the purpose of performing arts, music, drama, assemblies and other events.
The Creative Education Centre is a 3,000m2 building located on a prominent site in the heart of the campus. It will house two major performance spaces. The Studio theatre will seat 250 people and provide a flexible flat floor venue for small scale drama and music productions. The Forum will seat 800 people and provide a flexible flat floor venue for school assemblies and selective large scale musical and theatrical productions.
WHAT TREVENA DID.
The mechanical services employed to control conditions included the three main areas, the foyer, studio and main forum, all serviced by central plant Air Handling Units. Heating and Cooling Coils are housed within these units, and are serviced by the main Chiller and Boiler plant, including associated pumps, pipework, valves and controls.
Back of House areas include the Drama Rehearsal and Multi-purpose studios. Both areas are serviced by Daikin VRV systems, one with ducted units; the other with floor mounted consoles. Maintaining the back of house passageways are roof mounted gas ducted heaters.
All toilet, change room and kitchenette locations are serviced by roof mounted ducted exhaust systems.
